Alma Primary School

Physical Education at Alma Primary School

Physical Education at Alma is an important part of the curriculum. Children actively participate in two one-hour sessions a week – one indoor and one outdoor.

Children also have plenty of extra-curricular opportunities as well. After-school clubs (such as football, tennis, dodgeball and boxing) are run every day by our Sports Coach, Luca.

We have benefited greatly from the Sports Premium Grant which has ensured we can offer a wide range of opportunities to our children. It has allowed us to hire Luca as our Sports Coach and he uses his expertise when working alongside teachers. For a full break down of how the grant is spent, please refer to the 'Policies' page.

Competition is important and children at Alma have regular opportunities to join in competitive sports. Children compete in intra-school competitions such as Sports Day, which has been held at Lee Valley Athletics Centre for Years 5 and 6. Alma also regularly participates in borough-led competitions.

Children at Alma Primary School also take part in special sporting events such as visiting the World Para-Athletic Championships or seeing the England football team play at Wembley Stadium.
