English

The teaching of English is based on the ‘The National Curriculum’. Grammar, spelling and punctuation are taught discreetly and within the writing sessions. Writing is linked and taught through ‘Literacy and Language’ books, ‘The Power of Reading’ books or taught through other areas of the curriculum.   An average of two/three pieces of sustained writing is produced each half term. In Foundation stage, evidence of writing throughout the half term can be found in each child’s ‘Learning Journey’ books. In KS1 & 2 evidence of writing can be found in Language and Literacy, CLPE books, Science or Workbooks. Alma's 'Expectations for Writing’  criteria sheet is used to formally assess Writing.
